    Our Journey

    Our Founder

    Late K S Thirupathi Raja

From a table cleaner in distant kitchens to the master of an art form, our founder's life was a quiet rebellion against every limit life placed in his path. He returned to Rajapalayam, took up farming, then dreamed bigger — and when a rare dust storm wiped out his fields and left him under a mountain of debt, he chose to begin again. That choice became Adyar Ananda Bhavan.

The Roadmap 1st outlet to 100th

    1. 1960

      Where the dream began

      The seed of a legacy

Our beloved founder, Late K S Thirupathi Raja, opened a small sweet shop called Guru Sweets in Rajapalayam. Years of mastering the art of sweet-making in Chennai and Mumbai poured into one humble counter.

    2. 1979

The 1st outlet — Sri Ananda Bhavan, Washermanpet

      Outlet #1

After a devastating dust storm wiped out the family farmlands, our founder moved to Bengaluru, then to Chennai. Along with sons K T Venkatesan and K T Srinivasa Raja, he opened the very first shop in Washermanpet, Chennai — Sri Ananda Bhavan. Crafted sweets, his wife's care and unshakeable resilience filled every glass jar.

    3. 1980s

Adyar — where a name was born

A second outlet opened in Adyar and its humongous success became part of our identity. From that day, the brand carried the name of the neighbourhood that loved it most — Adyar Ananda Bhavan.

    4. 1990s

A taste of every region of India

We expanded across Chennai, introducing a delectable range of sweets from different regions of India — all crafted with the same uncompromising commitment to quality and tradition.

    5. 2005

      A2B Restaurants — a new chapter

We took a pivotal step into the restaurant business, launching A2B Restaurants alongside our sweets and snacks. The cosy, vegetarian dining experience amplified our reputation for quality and tradition.

    6. 2010s

      Going global

Our flag traveled across borders — USA, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Canada and the UK. Wherever there was a craving for authentic Indian sweets, A2B was there.
